How to Prevent Getting Sick
As flu season approaches I want to share a soothing recipe with you all. In a way it is an uncommon solution to everyday problems. It is a homemade tonic packed with immunity-boosting ingredients like cinnamon and ginger. The best part is that even if you don’t like cooking it is ok because this is super simple, and it only takes 10 minutes to prepare.
In addition to the recipe below, I am sharing my favorite Herbal Supplements with Vitamin: Nature's Way Sambucus Elderberry gummies, herbal supplements with vitamin C and Zinc. I love these because they are not only gluten free but also vegetarian.
1 Large Knob Ginger
2 Cinnamon Sticks
2 Star Anise
2 Tablespoons Honey
2 Tablespoons Apple Cider Vinegar
1 Teaspoon Turmeric
4 Cups Water
Place 4 cups water in a medium pot and bring to a boil
Rinse and slice 1 large knob of unpeeled ginger (about 4 inches long)
Place the ginger slices with 2 cinnamon sticks, and 2 star anise in the medium pot
Stir in 2 tablespoons honey, 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar, and 1 teaspoon turmeric (you can increase this to taste over time)
Thinly slice lemons lengthwise and place in the medium pot (I like to use half to full lemon, but you can also use the juice from 1 lemon)
Let steep, covered for about 10 minutes, remove from heat
Strain into a large glass container (I love straining into this Pyrex as it has a lid and can easily be stored in the fridge!)
Enjoy warm or refrigerated and reheat as needed
